U.S. President-elect Joe Biden's transition team aiding Cabinet member-appointing process

'코로나 TF' 곧 발표<br /><br />Having won the race to the White House, Joe Biden will now soon face the task of appointing the Members of the Cabinet.<br />Aided by his transition team, Biden aims to appoint a diverse cabinet that is representative of the American people.<br />But in a nation that has seen record-breaking COVID-19 figures, tackling the virus is another key issue he aims to address.<br />Han Seong-woo reports.<br />U.S. President-elect Joe Biden's transition team is now advising him on Cabinet choices.<br />The team, which was launched back in May, is co-chaired by one of Biden's closest advisors, Ted Kaufman, who replaced Biden in the Senate in 2009 when he became Vice President.<br />"I pledge to be a president who seeks not to divide but unify, who doesn't see red states and blue states only sees the United States... The African-American community stood up again for me. You've always had my back and I'll have yours."<br />The official transition website lists "diversity of ideology and background" as a core value.<br />Biden himself has said that he wants to appoint a diverse cabinet to represent the American people.<br />But with COVID-19 spreading in the country at a rate of over 100-thousand new infections a day, tackling the virus will be a priority under the Biden Administration.<br />Biden announced during his victory speech in Delaware that he will convene a COVID-19 task force on Monday, local time... which will operate from the moment he steps into office.<br />"That plan will be built on bedrock science, will be constructed out of compassion, empathy and concern. I will spare no effort, none or any commitment to turn around this pandemic."<br />According to CNN, former U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, former Food and Drug Administration Commissioner David Kessler and Yale University's Dr. Marcella Nunez-Smith will head the task force as co-chairs.<br />Han Seong-woo, Arirang News.<br />
