바이든-스가 전화회담..."미일동맹 강화 확인"<br /><br />President Elect Joe Biden's phone talks with President Moon was followed by one with Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga this morning.<br />A readout from Biden's transition team said Biden called the U.S., Japan alliance the "cornerstone of a prosperous and secure Indo-Pacific region."<br />Shortly after the call, Mr. Suga told reporters that the two discussed the need to cooperate on COVID-19, the global economic recovery, climate change... and that Mr. Biden had affirmed Washington's commitment to defending the Senkaku Islands under a 1960 bilateral security treaty.<br />The group of uninhabited islets in the East China Sea are administered by Tokyo but claimed by Beijing, which calls them Diaoyu.<br />
