덴마크, 코로나19 감염 밍크 살처분에 골머리...미국 등 6개국 밍크 관련 코로나 19 변종 사례 보고<br /><br />Amid continuing resurgence of COVID-19 in Europe...<br />Some countries are facing fresh threats coming from mink farms where mutated variants of the coronavirus are being reported.<br />For more on this and other news from around the world, we turn to our Lee Kyung-eun.<br />Kyung-eun, what's the latest?<br />Mok-yeon, according to the WHO, six countries have so far reported outbreaks in mink farms.<br />They include Denmark, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, and the U.S.<br />Mink are known as the only animal that can both catch from and transmit the virus to humans.<br />And they could pose a serious threat to containment efforts.<br />"But it's apparent that the infection spreads very rapidly on the farm so within the space of a week you can go from having a very low incidence of the disease to having almost 100 percent incidence of the disease."<br />Denmark, the first country see infections in mink, has so far reported more than 2-hundred mink-related infections.<br />Of particular concern is the "Cluster 5" variant, which is found to be less sensitive to antibodies.<br />The mass culling of 17million mink continues in Denmark,...while in the Netherlands, mink farming will be outlawed by spring of next year.<br />
