미 하루 신규 환자 18만 명 넘어...유럽, 일본도 연일 최고치<br /><br />Countries across the globe are breaking new daily highs of COVID-19 infections.<br />The U.S., Europe and Japan are among many regions faced with the virus spiraling out of control.<br />Choi Min-jung reports.<br />Countries around the world are seeing record-high new daily cases with soaring COVID-19 infections.<br />According to Johns Hopkins University data, the U.S. reported the highest single-day tally last Friday,… with over 184-thousand cases.<br />This comes just a little more than a week after the country first surpassed 100-thousand daily infections.<br />On Saturday, the country continued to see similarly high numbers,… marking 12 consecutive days passing the 100-thousand mark.<br />The situation in Europe got worse over the past week,… with countries reporting new daily records and imposing new lockdowns.<br />On Saturday, Russia confirmed over 22-thousand new daily cases for the first time since the pandemic began,… bringing their official total to 1-point-9 million.<br />Following record high daily figures over in Austria, the government announced a full lockdown,.. which is set to take effect from Tuesday local time.<br />During the tougher 3-week lockdown, people will be restricted from leaving their homes with the exception of buying everyday goods.<br />"My urgent request for the next few weeks is: Don't meet anyone. Every social contact is one too many.
