Lil Wayne Hit With<br />Federal Weapons Charge<br />in Florida.<br />The U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida<br />has charged Lil Wayne with a federal weapons charge. .<br />The charge is one count of possession of a<br />firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon. .<br />Wayne, who was convicted of a felony<br />gun charge in New York in 2009, is prohibited<br />from possessing a firearm. .<br />If convicted, Wayne could face<br />up to 10 years in prison. .<br />He is scheduled to appear<br />in court next month. .<br />The federal charge stems from a December 2019<br />incident when federal agents searched Wayne’s private<br />plane at Miami-Opa locka Executive Airport. .<br />Along with other guns and drugs<br />found on the plane, they reportedly found<br />a gold-plated handgun in Wayne’s luggage. .<br />At the time of the incident, Wayne’s attorney<br />said he was “cleared” by agents to leave, even<br />after the discovery of the items. .<br />There is no allegation that he ever fired it,<br />brandished it, used it or threatened to use it.<br />There is no allegation that he is a dangerous<br />person.
