California Governor Issues<br />Overnight Stay-at-Home Order.<br />Governor Gavin Newsom has issued a new<br />stay-at-home order in California meant to<br />curb the spread of COVID-19.<br />Starting Saturday, non-essential work<br />and gatherings must stop between the<br />hours of 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.<br />This will apply in counties that<br />fall in the “purple tier,” which is an<br />area where widespread transmission<br />of COVID-19 is taking place. .<br />41 counties, or more than 90 percent of<br />Californians, are currently in the purple tier. .<br />The limited stay-at-home order will<br />stay in effect until December 21. .<br />In a statement to Deadline, Governor Newsom<br />said he was “sounding the alarm.” .<br />The virus is spreading at a pace we<br />haven’t seen since the start of this<br />pandemic and the next several days<br />and weeks will be critical to stop the<br />surge. We are sounding the alarm. , Gavin Newsom, to Deadline.<br />He also said the new stay-at-home order<br />was “crucial” to decrease transmission and<br />slow hospitalizations in the state. .<br />On Thursday, California county health departments<br />reported 13,208 new cases of COVID-19.<br />That marks the fourth consecutive day that<br />California has reported at least 10,000 new cases.
