There are two vaccine made by two different companies: one by Pfizer and BioNTech.
The other by Moderna and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease.
Pfizer claims that their vaccine is more than 90% effective, Moderna reports that theirs is 95% effective.
Now both companies are seeking authorization to commercialize their vaccine.
FDA regulators will evaluate the effectiveness of both vaccine and then will give their approval accordingly.
On December, one or both vaccines might be authorized.
Ideally vaccines will be available by the end of 2020.
Some people may qualify for earlier access such as health-care workers or the elderly.
No serious safety concerns have been identified so far but this will be closely watched after the vaccine will be used.
Even after the vaccine released, social distancing has to be applied in order to limit virus spreading.
Even if vaccines appear to be effective, according to scientists the return to a normal life can't be expected before several months.
