세계 코로나19 누적 확진자 6천만명 돌파…美 추수감사절 연휴 '비상'<br /><br />Global COVID-19 cases surpassed 60 million and the virus has caused the deaths of over one-point-four million people. And, for anyone tracking the daily number of deaths from Covid in the U.S. as a metric of the pandemic’s devastation, Tuesday was a particularly bad day. Health experts there warn Thanksiving could lead to further spread of the virus. Here's Jang Tae-hyun.<br />Following the initial coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan, China last December,... over 60 million people globally have tested positive for COVID-19.<br />And it took less than three weeks to go from 50 million cases to 60 million.<br />Johns Hopkins University reported that, as of Wednesday local time, more than one-point-four million people globally have died from COVID-19.<br />In Europe, one million new cases were reported in just a five-day period.<br />This has prompted countries such as Italy, Germany and Spain to announce restrictions for the Christmas holiday season.<br />The Latin American region has the highest number of deaths reported worldwide, representing over 31 percent of the global death tally.<br />Brazil has more than 170-thousand fatalities and has the world's second-highest death toll, after that of the U.S.<br />Meanwhile, in the U.S., with Thanksgiving approaching, President-elect Joe Biden has called on Americans to stay safe during that period.<br />"I know how hard it is to forgo family traditions, but it's so very important. We're now averaging 160-thousand new cases a day. No one will be surprised if we hit 200-thousand cases in a single day."<br />Since Thanksgiving Day might lead to another surge,... health experts are advising people to wear protective masks and maintain social distancing.<br />Jang Tae-hyun, Arirang News.<br />
