WHO Updates <br />COVID-19 Face <br />Mask Guidance.<br />The World Health Organization (WHO) updated the guidance for the first time <br />in almost six months.<br />A mask alone, even when used correctly, is insufficient to provide adequate protection or source control, WHO, via guidance.<br />Other infection prevention and control (IPC) measures include hand hygiene, physical distancing of at least 1 meter, avoidance of touching one’s face, .., WHO, via guidance.<br />... respiratory etiquette, adequate ventilation in indoor settings, testing, contact tracing, quarantine and isolation, WHO, via guidance.<br />The WHO also advises that , "the general public should wear a non-medical mask in indoor shared workplaces, schools, or outdoor settings where physical distancing of at least 1 meter cannot be maintained.".<br />Unless indoor ventilation "has been assessed to be adequate," the WHO advises wearing a mask regardless of physical distancing.<br />The agency recommends that children <br />under the age of five shouldn't wear a mask. .<br />The WHO has also determined <br />that face shields are currently <br />considered inferior to masks
