외계와의 소통 시도했던 거대 전파망원경, 57년 만에 결국 붕괴<br /><br />The world's second biggest telescope in Puerto Rico has collapsed,... following gradual deterioration in recent months.<br />The 57-year old Arecibo Telescope was installed and managed by the U.S.<br />Over the years the giant bowl-shaped reflector had been used by scientists for various studies,... including finding potentially dangerous asteroids and looking for signs of extra-terrestrial life.<br />In August, cables supporting the reflector broke, forcing officials to close the observatory.<br />They say repairs would cause more damage than leaving it to be demolished.<br />
