S. Korea to crack down on drunk driving on highways

내일부터 전국 고속도로 일제 음주단속…1월까지 주2회 실시<br /><br />From tomorrow through the end of January, the South Korean police will be conducting a mass crackdown on drunk driving on the nation's highways, stopping drivers at the main on and off-ramps across the country and at toll booths.<br />The checks will be conducted twice a week.<br />To mitigate the risk of infection with COVID-19, the breathalyzer device will sample air about 30 centimeters from the driver's face.<br />South Korea enacted tougher rules on drunk driving last year, lowering the blood alcohol limit to just zero-point-zero-3 percent effectively meaning even a single drink is too many.<br />Violators are subject to a year in jail or a fine of about 46-hundred dollars... and a suspension of their license.<br />
