Most years, José Poblano would walk alongside thousands of other miracle-seeking pilgrims to the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City. This year, local authorities have closed the basilica between 10 and 13 December to avoid the risk of coronavirus spread, and Poblano and a handful of other migrants are rushing to reach the capital before its closure and continue the tradition.
