S. Korea opening 150 COVID-19 testing sites in capital area; free and anonymous

오늘부터 수도권 임시진료소 150곳서 무료 선제검사…익명검사도 가능<br /><br />Let's start with the coronavirus situation in South Korea.<br />There was a drop off in the number of new cases on Monday compared to the previous day, but the figure remains high.<br />New cases are sprouting up nationwide, but given that a lot are being confirmed in Seoul, scores of temporary health clinics offering free testing are going up across the capital.<br />Jang Tae-hyun reports.<br />South Korea reported 718 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday falling quite sharply after recording an all-time high daily figure of 1,030 on Sunday.<br />Most of the new infections were in the greater capital area but sporadic infections continue to pop up nationwide.<br />In a bid to find asymptomatic cases, the government is opening 150 temporary health clinics across the capital region on Monday.<br />Anyone can visit to get a free test.<br />They will be set up at subway stations and near universities with high foot traffic.<br />They will be open from 9 AM to 6 PM everyday, including weekends.<br />People can also get tested anonymously at the temporary clinics.<br />For convenience, two more types of test saliva PCR and quick antigen testing are being implemented.<br />People can choose between the three, but authorities advise people to take the nasal PCR test, if possible.<br />In particular, if you have any symptoms or were at the same place as someone who has the virus, officials say it's better to get the nasal test.<br />Of Monday's daily cases, 682 were locally transmitted.<br />Thirty-six from overseas.<br />Authorities warn that, should the situation continue, it's inevitable the nation's distancing level will be raised to the highest tier: Level 3.<br />In the meantime, in light of the high number of cases in the capital, the Seoul office of education has decided to move all schools to online learning from Tuesday.<br />Jang Tae-hyun, Arirang News.<br />
