1000년 전통의 ‘연등회’ 유네스코 인류무형유산 등재될 듯<br /><br />South Korea's annual lantern lighting festival Yeondeunghoe could soon finally be added to UNESCO's list of intangible cultural assets.<br />The Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage will make the decision in their session in Paris on Wednesday.<br />The session, which is livestreamed on the UNESCO website, starts at 9:30 PM Korea time.<br />If successful,... the event to celebrate Buddha's birthday will become South Korea's 21st intangible cultural asset inscribed on the list.<br />The annual ritual is held every eighth day of the fourth lunar month,... with colorful lanterns lighting up streets and Buddhist temples.<br />
