Q&A로 보는 수도권 5인 이상 금지<br /><br />Effective midnight tonight gatherings larger than four are banned over the Christmas and New Year holidays in Seoul and the surrounding areas.<br />Our Jang Tae-hyun answers the key questions about this latest measure.<br />As COVID-19 cases are sprouting up in the greater Seoul area,... local governments have decided to act.<br />"Even though the measure to ban gatherings of five or more people is uncomfortable,... please understand this situation is for our safety. Cancel all meetings to stop the virus."<br />So, what measures are they putting in place?<br />From December 23rd to January 3rd, the capital region will ban gatherings of five or more people.<br />They can't hold personal gatherings either indoors or outdoors.<br />But families that are registered at the same address can still dine at restaurants together.<br />The measures apply to people living in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do Province and Incheon.<br />And if you are living in that area,... you can't still hold a meeting in other provinces.<br />What types of meetings are banned... exactly?<br />Any kind of reunion, social meeting or picnic is banned.<br />Company get-togethers like dinners or workshops are also prohibited.<br />And, celebrations like birthday parties, or activities like hiking trips are also not allowed.<br />So,... are there any exceptions to these measures?<br />People can still work at their office as normal.<br />Scheduled tests and university entrance exams can also still go ahead, so long as there are fewer than 50 test takers.<br />Funerals and weddings are still allowed but must have fewer than 50 visitors.<br />Funerals in Seoul are limited to 30 visitors.<br />Participants can be fined a maximum of 2,700 U.S. dollars, and facility owners can also be fined the same amount and have their business shut down if they allow gatherings to take place.<br />And, if someone from the gathering tests positive for COVID-19, those related to the meeting will have to pay for the treatment.<br />Jang Tae-hyun, Arirang News.<br />
