Google Workers Organize Union<br />Open to All Alphabet Employees.<br />On Monday, workers at Google announced the<br />creation of the Alphabet Workers Union. .<br />The union was launched with the help<br />of the Communications Workers of America.<br />This means that members of the new<br />union will belong to CWA Local 1400.<br />The Alphabet Workers Union will reportedly be open to all<br />employees of Alphabet, both full-time and contractors. .<br />It is unclear how contractors will be included<br />as they are typically unable to join predominant unions,<br />and instead relegated to parallel freelancer unions.<br />Union organizer Nicki Anselmo posted a<br />statement online, saying the union will provide a<br />“sustainable structure” for all Alphabet employees. .<br />We’ve seen first-hand that Alphabet responds<br />when we act collectively … Our new union<br />provides a sustainable structure to ensure that<br />our shared values as Alphabet employees are<br />respected even after the headlines fade. , Nicki Anselmo, via Gizmodo.<br />Google has since released <br />a statement in response.<br />We’ve always worked hard to create a<br />supportive and rewarding workplace for our<br />workforce.
