A new analysis from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows cancer can take years off a person's life--literally.
UPI reports the analysis, released Thursday, says surviving cancer 'ages' a person's heart by up to nine years.
Based on their overall health, adult male cancer survivors were found to have hearts that appeared 8 1/2 years older than their actual age.
As for women, females who survived the disease were found to have hearts that appeared to be 6 1/2 years older.
Past research has found that compared to non-cancer survivors, adult cancer survivors are at high risk for heart disease due to greater excess heart age.
