BLACK HISTORY IS AMERICAN HISTORY <br />FROM SLAVERY TO “I HAVE A DREAM” <br />Every year in February, Americans spend an entire month celebrating, commemorating and remembering important people and events in the history of the African diaspora. <br /> <br />Originally called “Negro History Week”, the celebration’s week-long duration was originally chosen in 1926 to coincide with the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln on February 12 and Frederick Douglass on February 14.
