Arrests at St Patrick's Day anti-lockdown protests in Dublin

21 people were arrested, as a number of anti-lockdown protests took place on St Patrick's Day.<br />Around 100 protesters gathered in Herbert Park, many not following public health guidelines.<br />A massive Garda operation was in place, with more than 2,500 officers deployed at various checkpoints throughout the city.<br />The protests remained peaceful, but several were arrested for not complying with police instructions.<br />Ireland is currently instructing people to only leave their homes for work and education, or if ‘you have a reasonable excuse’.<br />Outdoor exercise within a 5km radius of your home is also permitted.<br />With a population of 4.9 million people, Ireland has registered 228,215 COVID-19 cases and 4,566 related deaths (Johns Hopkins University).
