Kim Janey Becomes Boston’s<br />First Black, First Female Mayor.<br />On Monday, Kim Janey<br />became the acting<br />mayor of Boston.<br />She stepped into the role<br />after Marty Walsh resigned<br />to become President Joe<br />Biden’s labor secretary. .<br />Janey is the first woman <br />and person of color to <br />hold the position. .<br />In a statement released Monday night,<br />Walsh welcomed the historic moment. .<br />History will be made tonight … We’re<br />an extremely diverse city from different<br />backgrounds and different nationalities<br />and different skin colors. I think it’s<br />a good thing for our city.
