NFL Players Won’t Be Tested for<br />THC During the Offseason.<br />On April 20, the NFL opened its random<br />drug testing window for players.<br />Unlike past years, players will not be tested<br />for THC, the chemical found in marijuana.<br />The new collective bargaining agreement (CBA)<br />was passed last year by the NFL and the NFLPA.<br />The exclusion of THC testing<br />extends from April 20 to August 9.<br />April 20, aka 4/20, just so happens<br />to be the popular cult holiday dedicated<br />to celebrating marijuana. .<br />In addition, the CBA has raised the<br />threshold for positive marijuana tests that<br />occur after the start of training camps.<br />The threshold has been raised from<br />35 nanogram to 150 nanograms.<br />Positive drug tests will also no<br />longer result in suspensions.<br />Players will instead have any THC<br />positive test reviewed by a panel of<br />appointed medical professionals.<br />The board will decide if it is necessary<br />for the player to receive treatment or not.
