CDC Advisers Recommend <br />Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine <br />for Kids Ages 12 to 15.<br />A CDC advisory committee voted on<br />May 12 to officially recommend the Pfizer vaccine<br />for use in children 12 to 15 years of age.<br />CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky formally<br />adopted the recommendation soon after.<br />According to Dr. Yvonne Maldonado of the American<br />Academy of Pediatrics, this development is an <br />“important step” forward for immunization in the U.S.<br />Approving Covid-19 vaccines for<br />children 12 to 15 years of age is an<br />important step in removing barriers<br />for vaccinating children of all ages, Dr. Yvonne Maldonado, via ‘The New York Times’.<br />Although children have a lower risk of<br />contracting severe COVID-19 illness, the virus has<br />infected more than 1.5 million kids. .<br />More than 13,000 of them have been<br />hospitalized as a result of COVID-19.<br />In addition, teenagers are thought to transmit COVID-19<br />as readily as adults, meaning increased inoculation<br />among adolescents will benefit everyone. .<br />Every person with Covid-19 provides the<br />virus with an opportunity to spread and<br />continue to mutate and further expose<br />our communities … The decisions from<br />health authorities this week bring us one<br />step closer to protecting adolescents<br />and achieving herd protection, Dr. Bill Gruber, Senior Vice President at Pfizer, <br />via ‘The New York Times’
