Nintendo Wins Lawsuit Against <br />ROM Hosting Website.<br />The lawsuit, which sought damages against RomUniverse for copyright infringement and federal trademark infringement, was filed in September of 2019.<br />RomUniverse will now have to <br />pay Nintendo $2.1 million.<br />RomUniverse hosted pirated Nintendo games that anyone could download, and even offered a premium subscription.<br />The website was taken down last year, but Nintendo pursued the lawsuit, initially seeking over $15 million in damages.<br />The website's owner said he "denies and disputes that he uploaded any files to said website and at no time did he verify the content of said ROM file.".<br />However, he had previously testified that "he and or/his "admin" uploaded ROMs of Nintendo's copyrighted works," <br />so his newest statement was struck down.<br />In 2018, Nintendo was awarded damages exceeding $12 million in a case against <br />two different ROM hosting sites
