2021-06-03 3 Dailymotion

Every morning, Asir Uddin Qureshi stuffs two big plastic bags with leftover meat from a butcher's shop and sells it in the narrow by-lanes of Ajmeri Gate. The meat that he sells facilitates a decades-old tradition of feeding Black Kites and other birds of prey in Old Delhi.

People in the area claim that this tradition dates back to the days when Old Delhi was called Shahjahanabad and continues to this day.

They believe that feeding these birds from the rooftop of one's house brings good luck to the family.

Produced in collaboration with ICFJ-Google Fellow Royden D'Souza
