Retail Stores <br />Enlist Shoppers , to Curb Bad Behavior <br />Against Workers.<br />A dozen retailers, including Gap and H&M, <br />will join forces on a campaign this fall<br />asking customers to help combat <br />bad behavior aimed at retail workers.<br />A dozen retailers, including Gap and H&M, <br />will join forces on a campaign this fall<br />asking customers to help combat <br />bad behavior aimed at retail workers.<br />The campaign is being spearheaded by nonprofits Open to All and Hollaback as well as the <br />Retail Industry Leaders Association.<br />ABC reports that retail workers have <br />faced increased harassment as they <br />try to enforce social distancing and <br />mask protocols amid the pandemic.<br />People of color, those with disabilities <br />and members of the LGBTQ+ community have <br />been among those targeted in retail settings. .<br />Participating retailers <br />will install signage in <br />their stores with QR codes <br />that allow customers to <br />sign a pledge of support. .<br />A tool kit designed by <br />Hollaback will also show <br />customers how they can help, <br />including ways to create a<br />distraction for the abuser...<br />...as well as documenting the situation <br />and bringing in someone else to help <br />the target of the abuse.<br />According to ABC, as the spread of COVID-19 slows, retailers are concerned that abusive behavior will worsen as stores enter the back-to-school and holiday seasons.
