Anatahan (アナタハン) Stars: Akemi Negishi, Tadashi Suganuma, Kisaburo Sawamura<br /><br /> Also known as The Saga of Anatahan, is a 1953 black-and-white Japanese film war drama directed by Josef von Sternberg (The Blue Lady).The World War II Japanese holdouts on Anatahan (an island in modern-day Northern Mariana Islands, USA) also inspired a 1998 novel, Cage on the Sea.<br />In 1944, the American Air Force sinks a Japanese supply convoy. The survivors reach an island that is only inhabited by the couple Kusakabe and Keiko.
