Defence Minister Rajnath Singh addressed army forces in Ladakh on June 28.<br /><br />During his speech he shared the locals’ happiness at the government's decision to create the union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.<br /><br />He said, “Two years back, the Govt took a historical decision - J&K and Ladakh became UTs. When I talk to the people of Ladakh and our MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, then I see a difference. He says that the people of Ladakh are happy. Why was it needed to form UT? Due to terrorism and lack of socio-economic development. People were devoid of even basic facilities. I don't think any sensitive govt will tolerate it. Terrorism activities went down after formation of UT. The Army is doing commendable work.”
