Mexico Decriminalizes, Recreational Marijuana Use.<br />On Monday, Mexico’s Supreme Court<br />decisively ruled to decriminalize recreational<br />marijuana in the country. .<br />Medical marijuana<br />has been legal in<br />Mexico since 2017. .<br />The 8-3 ruling came after a bill signed by<br />Mexico's President Andres Manuel López Obrador<br />struggled to advance through Congress. .<br />After failing to meet the<br />set deadline, the court moved<br />to vote down laws that previously<br />criminalized marijuana use. .<br />In order to legally obtain cannabis, citizens over 18 years<br />of age can apply for a permit from the Federal Commission<br />for Protection against Health Risks (Cofepris).<br />Once obtained, they can legally possess<br />up to 28 grams of cannabis.<br />Permits can also be obtained from Cofepris for the<br />legal cultivation and harvesting of marijuana plants.
