As people swarmed the Kabul airport in the hopes of catching a flight out of the country, gunshots were heard outside the Hamid Karzai International airport on Saturday afternoon. <br /> <br />The Taliban militants were seen open firing to prevent civilians from fleeing the country, while Afghan nationals scurried to avoid being caught in the crossfire. <br /> <br />In addition to the repeated gunfire, coloured smoke was also seen at the airport amid the pandemonium.
