Efforts to decriminalise suicide is moving forward after the Home Ministry and Attorney-General’s Chambers have agreed to it.<br /><br />This was revealed by Deputy Health Minister Aaron Ago Dagang in the Dewan Rakyat today.<br /><br />He said the next step is to bring the matter to the cabinet for deliberation before amendments are made to the Penal Code to decriminalise suicide.<br /><br />Under Section 309 of the Penal Code, attempting suicide is punishable by up to one year imprisonment, or a fine, or both.
