Kent and the rest of the country is expected to be separated into three different lockdown tiers next week as the government attempts to control rising covid cases.

Under the plans, areas imposed with the harshest restrictions, tier three, would see pubs and restaurants closed.

Meanwhile residents would be ordered not to have any social contact with anyone outside their household in any setting.

Tier two would allow pubs and restaurants to remain open, but there would be no household mixing in homes or gardens or in hospitality settings.

Tier one, which is likely to be where Kent is for the meantime, is to order people to observe the rule of six and continue to socially distance.
