Car crashes on Kent's motorways have almost doubled in the last decade because highways chiefs are turning the streetlights off.<br /><br />Research shows that casualties on fast-moving roads with unused lighting, including the M2, have jumped by 88 per cent since 2010.<br /><br />Highways England insist the roads are safe though and say they turn off lights to be more eco-friendly.
