Ministers will consider imposing a chewing gum tax to stop people throwing it away on the street.<br /><br />Gum is highly damaging to the environment and costs councils nearly 50 million pounds to clear-up every year.<br /><br />Chancellor Philip Hammond is set to launch a public consultation tomorrow to show officials how the tax system can be used to help the environment.<br /><br /> We asked shoppers in Rochester if they think it's worth putting a tax on chewing gum.
