A cabbie watched as his neighbour's entire garage roof was completely lifted off and blown away during Storm Malik.

The storm winds lifted the large flat roof off a workshop, flipped it over Neil Bland's car, before it landed in a garden metres away.

Neil, 53, from Hetton-le-Hole, Sunderland, said: "The roof blew over the top of my neighbour's workshop, went over my garage and miraculously cleared the top of my taxi, not a scratch on it, and landed in the garden two doors away!

"If you look you will see the roof was about four sheets of plywood, three layers of felt and about five joists, and about 14 ft long - a lot of weight.

"I was very lucky it didn't hit my taxi - remarkably it didn't even get a scratch!"

The video was taken yesterday (30 Jan) at 10:25am.
