#KiniNews: MCO extended, violators may face heavier penalty

Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin has announced that the movement control order (MCO) would be extended for another two weeks until April 28.<br /><br />The decision was made after obtaining feedback from the Health Ministry on the Covid-19 outbreak in Malaysia.<br /><br />Meanwhile, Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob has said the government is considering raising the fine and jail sentence imposed on those who breach the order.<br /><br />In a broadcasted press conference today, he compared Malaysia’s RM1,000 compound on violators to the far higher fines imposed by governments in Singapore, South Korea and Indonesia.
