Biden and EU Strike , Landmark Energy Deal , in Response to Russia's <br />Invasion of Ukraine.<br />U.S. President Joe Biden announced the new deal on March 25 from Brussels.<br />Under the deal, the U.S. will deliver more gas to EU nations.<br />The deal specifies a total gas delivery from the U.S. to the EU of 15 billion cubic meters this year alone.<br />Per the new agreement, the amount of gas delivered to EU from the U.S. will increases over time.<br />The EU has also reiterated its commitment to renewable energy sources in response to climate change.<br />Russia is currently Europe's primary gas supplier. .<br />The nation's gas is responsible for close to 40 percent of the EU's natural gas supply.<br />In making the announcement, Biden called out the efforts of Russian President Vladimir Putin to "coerce and manipulate his [EU] neighbors.".<br />Biden also stated the Russian oil industry" is in place to "drive [Putin's] war machine.".<br />According to Biden, the deal is not "only the right thing to do from a moral standpoint" ... .<br />... but "it’s going to put us on a stronger strategic footing.".<br />The new deal with require construction of new terminals in in the EU to be able to handle the significant transatlantic imports increase.<br />European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated a commitment to shifting dependence upon Russian gas.<br />We aim to reduce this dependence on Russian fossil fuels and get rid of it, Ursula von der Leyen, European Commission President, via 'The Guardian'.<br />Take the time to understand each other.<br />Take the time to understand each other
