<p>John Altman, who played Nick Cotton on EastEnders, has paid tribute to the generosity and spirit of June Brown who played his screen mum Dot on the BBC soap. </p><p>"She was a dear friend," the actor said on GMB, "Someone I could confide in, and probably my second mother, really.
