Container Ship Stuck , in Chesapeake Bay For Weeks , Is Finally Free.<br />The container ship known as Ever Forward was released in Chesapeake Bay on the morning of April 17.<br />Spanning the distance of three football fields, .<br />Ever Forward ran aground in the bay more than a month ago.<br />Carrying more than 5,000 containers, .<br />the ship had been on its way from Baltimore to Norfolk when it got stuck against the muddy bottom of the bay.<br />Approximately 500 containers had to be removed from Ever Forward in order to pry it free.<br />Two previous attempts to dislodge to ship had failed.<br />A high tide and the work of five tugboats and two other barges finally freed the ship.<br />Work crews had been dredging the bottom of the bay the surrounded Ever Forward.<br />In order to complete safe passage underneath the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, .<br />water tanks were <br />added to Ever Forward <br />to weigh it back <br />down again.<br />No injuries were reported as a result of <br />Ever Forward running aground.<br />Officials say the incident also did not cause any damage or additional pollution to the area.<br />The Coast Guard has not stated, however, what caused the incident.<br />The ship will be examined before it is allowed to continue on to the Port of Baltimore
