LeVar Burton To Receive , Lifetime Achievement Award, at Children’s Emmys.<br />NPR reports LeVar Burton will be honored at <br />the inaugural Children's and Family Emmys.<br />The beloved former host of <br />'Reading Rainbow' will receive <br />the Lifetime Achievement Award.<br />Burton reacted to the news via Twitter.<br />Burton became the executive producer <br />and host of 'Reading Rainbow' in 1983.<br />The show aired for 23 years on PBS. .<br />It won 12 Daytime Emmys <br />and one Peabody Award.<br />With an acting career spanning decades, <br />Burton is also well known for his roles as <br />Kunta Kinte in the 1977 miniseries 'Roots'...<br />... and Geordi La Forge in the <br />'Star Trek: The Next Generation' television series.<br />Per NPR, Burton will also be the host of the 2022 Scripps National Spelling Bee
