The government does not regulate base fares set by e-hailing operators (EHO), said Transport Minister Wee Ka Siong.<br /><br />He said this following an engagement session by the Ministry of Transport (MOT) with EHOs on their recent price surge.<br /><br />He added that drop in the number of drivers, an increase in the demand for e-hailing services and traffic congestion after the country transitioned to the endemic phase are among the main factors which led to a surge in e-hailing fares recently.
