NATO boosts forces in Europe to counter "direct threat" from Russia

Leaders of the NATO military alliance have declared that Russia is a direct threat to their security.<br /><br />They have said that Ukraine can count on NATO support for "as long as it takes"<br /><br />The statements came at a summit meeting of leaders of the alliance in Madrid<br /><br />It marks a toughening of NATO's stance following Russian's invasion of Ukraine.<br /><br />NATO has also agreed to accept Sweden and Finland's application to join the alliance's current 30 member nations.<br /><br />The United States has committed to send more military forces to Europe.
