Sri Lanka’s President Gotabaya Rajapaksa tendered his resignation on July 14. <br /><br />The embattled President sent his resignation letter through an email to Parliament Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardenaon whose office is checking the legality of the document before making a formal announcement. <br /><br />People were seen celebrating Rajapaksa’s resignation at Galle Face Park in Colombo.<br />
