In the past, many onion producers would store their onions, so as to sell them over a longer period and make a profit.<br /><br />During this phase, many of them saw their production reduced because the onion rotted. This caused a lot of losses. They were not able to obtain the cost of production by selling the rest of their production.<br /><br />Today, the producers have been able to benefit from support to produce better quality onions through agroecology and good conservation methods.
