Join me in BeamNG Drive as we attempt to pursue a sporty hatchback in what has to be one of the slowest police cars known to man, a diesel Bruckell LeGran. <br /><br />In the early 1980s, some real-life police departments chose smaller cars like the Chevrolet Malibu for patrol duties, for fuel economy reasons. The Malibu was available with an Oldsmobile 4.3L diesel V6 engine which was supposedly good for around 40 MPG, but only put out 85 HP. Not to be confused with the Olds 5.7L diesel V8, the 4.3L was a better designed engine that didn't suffer from the same reliability problems as the V8. <br /><br />Though there's no record of one ever being used for police work, it's not too much of a stretch to imagine a city police department choosing that engine for a car that would only see routine patrol, parking enforcement, or civil processing (delivering summonses and other paperwork) duties. <br /><br />BeamNG includes a great representation of an early-80s mid-sized Olds in the Bruckell LeGran, and even includes a pre-configured police cruiser, but the diesel V6 isn't available for any model. Fortunately a modder named STEVIE_G4M1NG_YT decided to add the engine. His mod, LeGran 4.3 Diesel, is available here (https://www.beamng.com/resources/legran-4-3-diesel.20341/) <br /><br />In the game I started with the vanilla Police Package config, and swapped in the diesel engine and diesel fuel tank. Since low-speed patrol isn't very fun, I decided to see how it would perform in a pursuit. It performed better than I thought it would, to be honest. I was just about to catch up to the offending vehicle, when I entered a turn a little too quickly and lost it.
