No striker wants to be a super substitute, but so far it's working perfectly for England striker Alessia Russo.<br /><br />The Manchester United player has come off the bench in all of the Lionesses' Euro 2022 group stage matches and is now the tournament's second-highest goalscorer.<br /><br />With four uninterrupted goals, the 23-year-old is referred to by fans as 'Lessi', comparing her to Argentinian footballer Lionel Messi, often considered the best player in the world.<br /><br />Russo previously played for Chelsea, Brighton and Hove Albion and North Carolina Tar Heels, and represented England in all age groups.<br /><br />Born in Maidstone in Kent, Russo rose through the ranks to become a star in women's football, before her mind-boggling back-heeled goal helped the Lionesses eliminate Sweden from Euro 2022 last night.<br /><br />Russo is of Italian descent after his Sicilian grandfather moved to England in the 1950s. His father, Mario, played non-league football for Met Police, while his brother Giorgio played non-league for Ramsgate in Kent. . Meanwhile, his younger brother, Luca, attended the University of Missouri on an athletic scholarship.<br /><br />After playing for Bearsted Girls under-10s as a child, Russo began her career at Charlton Athletic's center of excellence before joining the Chelsea development team.<br /><br />Many fans simply couldn't wrap their head around the Manchester United striker's goal, with one Twitter user saying: "Just watching this on loop for the next 5 days."<br /><br />A second fan echoed the sentiment, adding: "That was ridiculous!"<br /><br />Another user added that it was probably the best goal we would see all year, simply declaring: 'Goal of the year'.<br />
