India’s Tejaswin Shankar won India's first medal in athletics event at the Commonwealth games 2022, by clinching a historic bronze in the men’s high jump final. <br /><br />Tejaswin nailed a landing of 2.22m to secure a podium finish to clinch the bronze medal. Tejaswin’s efforts took India’s medal tally in the CWG 2022 in Birmingham to 18.<br /><br />Speaking about the achievement, Tejaswin Shankar said, “I am very happy that I won a medal & opened India's tally in athletics. I'm thankful to all those who believed in me & gave me this opportunity. I think this is India's first medal in high jump in Commonwealth Games history.”
