<p>Maxim Baldry says it was a "gift" to be able to work with the showrunners of Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power to create the character of Isildur. Mentioned briefly in The Lord of the Rings and Peter Jackson's film trilogy, Isildur was a King of Gondor who cut the One Ring from the hand of Sauron only to later lose it.</p><p>The Rings of Power, set thousands of years before the original trilogy during the Second Age of Middle-earth, introduces Isildur as a Númenórean sailor who rises through the ranks.</p><p>The first two episodes of Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power are streaming on Prime Video now.</p>
