Javier Hernández produced an unfortunate Panenka miss in the 97th minute of the LA Galaxy's 2-2 draw with Sporting Kansas City.<br /><br />The former Manchester United striker scored twice in the match, including an 88th-minute penalty to level things up at Dignity Health Sports Park.<br /><br />The Mexican international had the opportunity to complete his hat-trick and seal an emphatic 3-2 victory.<br /><br />The 34-year-old striker opened the scoring against Sporting KC with a great finish in the fourth minute before second-half goals from Johnathon Russell and Felipe Hernandez put the visitors up 2-1.<br /><br />He then sent John Pulskamp the wrong way with his first penalty of the match and put it right into the top corner in the 88th minute.<br /><br />Hernandez, however, greatly complicated matters with his second effort from 12 yards in the seventh minute of stoppage time.<br /><br />The scoring striker, who has scored seven goals in seven games to take his tally to 14 for the season, went for a Panenka but telegraphed his attempt.<br /><br />The ball went straight into Pulskamp's hands, leaving Hernandez with his head in his hands.<br /><br />Hernandez then apologized to the Galaxy hands after the game and raised his hands to them in a sign of prayer.<br /><br />As he walked off the court moments later, he told the LA Galaxy fans: 'We had a clear chance to get the three points, we couldn't... I take responsibility, I'm sorry.<br /><br />"Two weeks ago Panenka worked very well, now this time it didn't. I need to look forward, take responsibility and keep improving and working."<br /><br />Hernandez also recently made headlines for a dive against Toronto FC, where he went down with notable exaggeration after a fight with Michael Bradley, Richie Laryea and Chris Mavinga.<br /><br />The Galaxy are currently eighth in the Western Conference and return to action against Nashville on September 10, as they continue to chase playoff spots.
