The High Sheriff of East Sussex, Mrs Jane King, made a county proclamation of the new sovereign.<br />The tradition of the proclamation dates back many centuries to before modern communications when the local announcement was often the first time people learned of the accession of a new monarch.<br /><br />In 2022, the proclamation offers an opportunity for the community to gather together at this unique point in history as the reign of the longest-serving monarch of this country has ended and a new sovereignty has begun.
