Former English footballer Andy Carroll has been involved in a horrific head-on accident.<br /><br />His £130,000 Mercedes GLS SUV collided with a Ford Fiesta, displacing it 30 yards down the road.<br /><br />Witnesses living on the residential street recounted how the former Liverpool, Newcastle and West Ham striker looked "stunned and in shock" when he got out of his monster engine.<br /><br />The 33-year-old ponytailed player quickly went to check on the three people in the red Fiesta.<br /><br />A front wheel came off Carroll's black Merc. The side panels and part of the bumper were also destroyed.<br /><br />Witnesses said Carroll, 33, who had been behind the wheel, was tested for breathalyzers along with the female driver of the Fiesta. No arrests were made.<br /><br />Carroll and a male friend with him escaped injury.<br /><br />A male Fiesta passenger in his 50s was taken to hospital after complaining of chest pains.<br /><br />Steve Garboulb saw the accident at 3:25 p.m. m. Saturday in Romford, East London, and said: "I was lucky no one died.<br /><br />“The Fiesta and Mercedes collided head-on and another vehicle was hit in the carnage. It was a freak accident."<br /><br />John Cooper, who lives nearby, said: "I heard the most horrible explosion.<br /><br />“I saw Andy Carroll get out of his vehicle. He wandered around in a daze.<br /><br />"Andy was in shock, but he was like, 'What do you think of my car?' I was like, 'I think it's a cancellation, man.'<br /><br />The police were investigating.<br /><br />Carroll, who has nine England caps, spent the second half of last season with Championship side West Bromwich Albion but his contract was not renewed.<br /><br />He was approached for comment.
